Housing Law

We are specialist lawyers in this field and recognised as such by the Legal Aid Agency. We deal with homelessness, disrepair, possession proceedings, mortgage arrears, right to buy, long leasehold problems.

If you are being harrassed by your landlord or their agent in the appropriate cases we can get you injunctions to stop this sort of behaviour.

We have experience of acting against many local authorites and registered social and private landlords (large and small). Legal aid may be available.

Call our Hastings or Ashford offices for more information.

Housing Advice Center

A useful site that includes various advice on housing matters and useful links covering most housing enquiries.

Through the Housing Advice Center site you are able to make an enquiry by submitting a Housing Contact Form on the Contact Form tab.

Notices Under Section 21 Housing Act 1988

1. There will be a prescribed form of section 21 Notice that landlords will be required to use in respect of any tenancy that starts on or after 1 July 2015.

2. Section 21 Notices will be time-barred, that is to say such Notices will mainly be usable only for a period of 6 months from the date on which they are served on the tenant.

3. After 1 October 2015 it will not be possible to rely upon a section 21 Notice served on the tenant at the commencement of the tenancy, as such a Notice will be ineffective if served within the first 4 months of the tenancy.

There are other changes to the law which affect housing. The above gives you a taste of the changes that are being made.

We will gladly advise you about the new rules (whether you be landlord or tenant).
