Housing Lawyer 

at a busy Legal Aid franchised practice covering Hastings (East Sussex) and Ashford (Kent). 

Experience of homelessness, unlawful eviction and defending possession proceedings is essential.

A working knowledge of the Legal Aid system is an advantage, as is the ability to undertake general civil litigation, family law or personal injury work.

Children Law Solicitor / FCILEX

Job Description

We are looking for a minimum of 2 years PQE Solicitor or FCILEX to join our well-established Family Department.

There are varied roles available in the Family Department which specialise in Public Law Children, Private Law Children, divorce and finances, and domestic violence.

You will be personable, motivated and able to work as an individual and as part of a dedicated team. There are excellent career prospects for the right candidate.


Duties/Responsibilities

· Running own caseload

· Doing own advocacy where appropriate

· Dealing with LAA forms/admin where appropriate

· Assisting with the Company’s work creation projects

· Any additional duties as required with occasional travel from time to time

Essential

Skills/Competencies required:

· Strong organisational skills

· Excellent time utilisation

· Consistent in meeting billing targets

· Enthusiastic and positive approach to Family Law

· Sufficiently confident with Family Law to use your own initiative

· Proven team working abilities

· An ability to handle urgent work

· An ability to work to tight schedules

· An ability to remain calm and work effectively in a high pressure environment

· Working knowledge of Legal Aid is preferable but not essential


Education

· Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or equivalent

Legal Secretary – Family Law

Job Description

A great opportunity has arisen for a Legal Secretary to join the practice in Hastings. 

The purpose of this role is to assist and support with secretarial and administrative duties.


Job Description

The successful candidate must have experience in the following:

· Experience in Family Law is preferable but not essential

· Supporting the Fee Earner within the firm

· Supporting and assisting clients

· Document production including audio typing

· Using Microsoft package where necessary

· Picking up day to day general admin including filing and post, email and diary management

· Amending and formatting legal documentation

· Answering the phones, dealing with enquiries from clients, colleagues and third parties and effectively transferring the information

· Any other tasks delegated by the Partners and Practice Manager


Profile

To be successful in your application, you will possess the following attributes

· Experience working as a Legal Secretary is preferable but not essential

· Excellent technical skills which include a fast and accurate typing speed a Legal Secretarial qualification is desirable but not essential

· The ability to manage a busy workload with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines

· Good communication skills and a confident, friendly and outgoing manner both over the phone and in person

· Attention to detail
